Located in Las Vegas, the business analyst is responsible for analyzing and modeling existing business processes. The goal of business process analysis is to understand and document current business procedures and identify areas for improvement. A thorough understanding of the current state of the organization is necessary prior to recommending changes related to implementing a new business solution.
 
The business analyst uses modeling tools to document the current state of business processes as well as the desired future state. The business analyst is responsible for the knowledge transfer of business implications to the application/database developers and project managers.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
The business analyst works closely with the business and is a major contributor to the requirements specification deliverable, writes the business and functional requirements, define scope and objectives and formulate systems to parallel overall business strategies.
This person understands the business and ensures that there is synergy between the business and IT. Performs feasibility analysis, scopes projects, and works with the project management team to prioritizes deliverables and negotiate on product functionalities. The business analyst understands development processes – SDLC – and is very analytical with problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues.
 
  • Creates detailed Business Requirement Document (BRD) and translate it into functional specifications.
  • Provides analytic support by coordinating data extraction from various databases and data interpretation.
  • Partners with development and analytic teams to provide reporting on software solutions.
  • Participates in Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Functionality Testing.
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
  • Construct workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications
  • Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications
  • Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures
  • Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; forming project team; establishing project budget
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
  • Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Validate resource requirements and develop cost estimate models
  • Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, operational and related research to support strategic and business planning within the various departments and programs of the client group
  • Interpret, evaluate and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports
  • Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or technical training equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Functional, Data or Business Analyst
  • 3+ years of experience in Access, Excel(Advanced), Visio, and MS Project
  • 3+ years of customer interfacing experience – project oversight, customer presentation.
  • 3+ years SQL Server 2005/2008 knowledge – T-SQL, Tables, Views
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
